Case Manager/Community Education

The Case Manager/Retention Specialist for the Adult Education Department will be responsible for intake/assessment of new students (paperwork, assessments, orientation, career planning, etc.), confirming student class schedule and course enrollment, leading new student orientation, monitoring attendance and student data, outreach, and pre/post-testing students as necessary. The Case Manager is present to support the Instructor and students and work collectively to accomplish the designated program and participant goals. The Case Manager has a pivotal role in assisting each adult learner in identifying barriers to success and planning to overcome those barriers. Job placement/coaching, referrals to community agencies, soft skills training, and career mapping are day-to-day functions of a Case Manager. Most importantly, this role serves a pivotal function in building positive relationships with the students our Department serves. Special Qualifications: TABE 11/12 training and Adult Education Certification preferred, or willingness to obtain. The ideal candidate will have documented experience working with adult learners and utilizing research- based case management tactics to augment program goals and grant outcomes. The ideal candidate will have experience with NYSED Adult Education policy and procedures.
