***This is a split position — 4 days at Franklin Elementary School and 1 day at Holmes Elementary School.

Hours: 8:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. (6.5 hours per day, 32.5 hours per week) - 10 month duty schedule

For permanent appointment, the successful candidate must hold the civil service title of Library Media Aide and be eligible for transfer pursuant to Erie County Civil Service rules.  If not already holding the title, the appointment will be provisional pending civil service examination.  A provisional appointee must take the examination when offered, and be canvassed and reachable from the civil service list when issued.  A noncompetitive pathway to fill this Library Media Aide position may be available through the temporary NY HELPS Program.  If this option is available, the successful candidate will be advised.

Job Duties: Support the Library and Library Media Specialist in a professional and efficient manner.  Ability to work with students in grades K-4. Assists students and teachers in locating reference and instructional books and materials; checks in returned books and places them back on shelves; may be assigned special projects and any other duties as assigned by administrators.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and at least one (1) year of typing/keyboarding experience which included the use of computers. 

Special Qualifications:  Must have the ability to relate well with people and have excellent customer service skills including a welcoming demeanor; must have computer knowledge (Microsoft Office Suite); must possess strong communication skills and be willing to be a part of a multi-functional team; must be detail oriented, highly organized and a team player.

$18.25-$28.43/hour, Commensurate with experience
