Evening ESL Instructor

Special Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience teaching English to adults and understand NYSED Adult Education policies and procedures tied to funding streams. Candidates must participate in 14 hours of professional development annually. Ideal candidate will have experience analyzing classroom/student assessment data and a thorough understanding of research based best-practices for teaching English to adults from a myriad of cultural backgrounds. Hourly Rate: $35.00/hour 2 evenings/week (Wednesday and Thursday, 12 months) Kenmore Junior Senior High School  
Substitute ESL Instructor
The Substitute ESL instructor for Adult Education will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to a group of diverse adult learners. Candidates should have experience teaching English to adult learners and be able to encourage student participation and attendance, provide students with appropriate learning materials aligned to standards, and maintain an inclusive classroom with accessible materials for a range of proficiency levels.

HSE Instructor

The High School Equivalency (HSE) Instructor is responsible for providing engaging instruction to a diverse group of adult learners. The typical HSE class serves out of school youth and adults over the age of 17 with a goal of attaining a NYS High School Equivalency Diploma by preparing and successfully passing the GED exam. • Instructor should have experience delivering instruction to a diverse group of proficiency levels in math and reading. • Instructor should expect to deliver whole group, small group, and individualized instruction to a multi-leveled class of adult learners in the following content-areas; English, math, science, and social studies. • Instructor must have research-based strategies relative to providing instruction to learners with classified or non-classified learning disabilities and advocate for student accommodations. ? Align program practices to NYSED policies and procedures, work with Program Manager and Department staff to coordinate and improve program operations. ? Develop positive relationships with students and integrate technology into instructional practices.

Special Qualifications:  Instructor must attend 14 hours of relevant professional development annually through the local RAEN. The ideal candidate will have experience working with adult learners and utilizing research-based instructional strategies to augment program and GED test pass rates.
