Music/Holmes Ele.

The Kenmore Tonawanda School District is looking to hire a probationary music teacher  for the 2024-25 school year to teach K-4 general music and 4th grade chorus at Holmes Elementary.

Essential Characteristics

  • A valid New York State teaching certificate in Music K-12

  • Demonstrated successful classroom experience at the elementary level (K - 4) 

  • Demonstrate ability to conduct a 4th grade chorus 

  • Demonstrate skills on Uke, Piano, Recorder, hand drumming and Orff instruments

  • Demonstrate excellent aural acuity

  • Has a firm belief in the potential of all students

  • Demonstrate ability to implement reliable classroom management strategies

  • Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively and effectively with staff members, colleagues, administration, parents, and community groups.

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire students at a variety of ability levels

  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and attention to detail and organization

  • Ability to reflect on teaching - allowing for growth 

  • Demonstrated willingness to contribute within and outside the department for school community and extracurricular events (school musical, chaperon, school events, etc.)

  • Possess knowledge of the NYS Music Learning Standards

  • Active in professional organizations, e.g. NAfME, NYSSMA and ECMEA 

  • Continued professional development, e.g. workshops, clinics, courses
