Senior Clerk Typist - FT, 12 months - Edison Elementary

Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week) - 12 Month Duty Schedule

IF APPOINTED PROVISIONALLY THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST BE QUALIFIED TO TAKE THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION WHEN MADE AVAILABLE. FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HOLD THE TITLE OF SENIOR CLERK TYPIST OR MUST BE CANVASSED AND REACHABLE FROM THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE LIST.

JOB DUTIES: Lead secretary in the main office, must have the ability to relate well with people and have excellent customer service skills, including a welcoming demeanor. Duties include but not limited to: office reception and check in, timely written communication/typing correspondence, creating and managing schedules, processing employee payroll and other school related documents; and any other duties as assigned by an administrator.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a team player with a pleasant, welcoming demeanor, able to work in a fast-paced environment; must be able to multitask and have excellent customer service skills.  Knowledge of Microsoft/Google Suite is required; must be able to make quick decisions, be detail-oriented, organized and confidential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, including or supplemented by a course in typing, and one year of office clerical experience.
Notes: 1. One year of office clerical experience, which included typing, may be substituted for the required typing course; 2. Completion of a one (1) year or longer post high school secretarial course, which includes typing, may be substituted for the required experience. Additional office clerical experience, which includes typing, may be substituted for the required experience. Additional office clerical experience which included typing, beyond the one-year requirement, may be substituted for high school on a year-for- year basis; 3. Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be prorated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.

$18.62-$29.01 per hour

Full Time, Non- Represented, Core Schedule

FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HOLD THE TITLE OF PRINCIPAL CLERK TYPIST OR MUST BE CANVASSED AND REACHABLE FROM THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE LIST.

JOB DUTIES: Secretary to the Assistant Superintendent for Finance. Duties include: answering phone calls; sorting the mail; budget preparation - entering purchase orders, creating reports for directors/supervisors, preparing data for review, reviewing all PowerPoint presentations and budget documents for data accuracy. Maintaining a schedule for the Assistant Superintendent for Finance. Collecting, preparing and reviewing information for accuracy for the Board of Education docket, including department reports, financial reports, and any other resolutions presented by the Assistant Superintendent for Finance. Prepare all invoices for signature, including reviewing for accuracy, comparing them to original quotes/contracts and obtaining the signature from the Assistant Superintendent for Finance. Reserve all travel rental cars for the district and prepare them for payment by obtaining signatures and other supporting documentation. Collect and file Insurance Certificates. Obtain Insurance Certificates as needed from the district insurance. Maintain and organize Tax Assessment disputes. Organize and file all district contracts in a shared file. Receive, organize and review BOCES billings for distribution to District Departments. Prepares correspondence, financial sheets and other data/documents as requested by the Assistant Superintendent for Finance. Accept phone calls from district residents, triage issues and assist with resolution, and any other projects as assigned by administrators.  This position involves a high level of confidentiality, technical/computer and customer service work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (a) Completion of two (2) years of study at a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or business school, supplemented by courses in typing or word processing and two (2) years of office experience including typing or word processing; or (b) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, supplemented by courses in typing and word processing and four (4) years of office experience including typing or world processing; or (c) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).

Note: Verifiable part-time and /or volunteer experience will be prorated toward meeting full-time experience requirements. 

 

$29.63-$33.21 per hour
