Clerk Typist FT - Office of Data and Accountability

Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week) - 12 Month Duty Schedule

IF APPOINTED PROVISIONALLY, THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST BE QUALIFIED TO TAKE THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION WHEN MADE AVAILABLE. FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HOLD THE TITLE OF CLERK TYPIST OR MUST BE CANVASSED AND REACHABLE FROM THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE LIST.

Job Duties: Assist in a very busy office setting in a professional and efficient manner when interacting with students, parents and staff. Duties include managing English as a New Language (ENL) testing record documentation and proper coding within the student management system; prepare individualized correspondence on matters regarding school district residency violations; ensuring monthly NYSED Data regarding homeless or transitional students and ENL students is properly verified and corrected as needed; preparing correspondence, mail merges, reports, notices and other written material as composed by the Department or Director; maintain and report on district enrollment using Student Management System and general database reporting tool; assist with NYS 3-8 ELA, Math and Science Test administration and in NYS Regents Exam preparation and scoring processes; receive telephone calls and email messages to and from district staff and families; order and maintain supplies as needed; maintain a schedule of appointments and make arrangements for Director as needed; generate various types of official district reports and forms as requested by Director; other clerical/administrative functions as assigned by Director

Special Qualifications: Ability to manage large datasets using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, along with other MS and Google Suite applications; student Management Information System experience such as Infinite Campus is desired; ability to mail merge letters and documents; Level 0 and Level 1 Data Warehouse knowledge desired; must possess strong communication skills and a willingness to be a part of a large, multi-functional team; ability to relate well with people and have excellent customer service skills including a welcoming demeanor; must be able to multitask, must be detail oriented and highly organized.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the date of the written test: graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma including or supplemented by a course in typing (see Notes). 

NOTES:

1. One year of office clerical experience, which included typing, may be substituted for the required typing course. 

2. Office clerical experience, including typing, may be substituted for the high school requirement on a year for year basis. 

3. Possession of an Associate’s degree or higher, can substitute for the required typing course. 

4.  Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements

$17.20-$26.80 per hour
