Clerk Typist RPT - Lindbergh Elementary

Hours: 8:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. (6.5 hours per day, 32.5 hours per week) - 10 Month Duty Schedule

IF APPOINTED PROVISIONALLY, THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST BE QUALIFIED TO TAKE THE ERIE COUNTY CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION WHEN MADE AVAILABLE. FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HOLD THE TITLE OF CLERK TYPIST OR MUST BE CANVASSED AND REACHABLE FROM THE EXISTING ERIE COUNTY CIVIL SERVICE LIST.

Job Duties: Assist in a very busy office setting in a professional and efficient manner when interacting with students, parents and staff. Duties include assisting with attendance and discipline, filing and managing student attendance, transportation issues, field trips, contracts, phone answering /returning voicemails, building calendar and any other duties as assigned by an administrator.  

Special Qualifications: Must have computer knowledge (Microsoft Office and Google Suites); proficiency in Infinite Campus or other student management systems a plus; must possess strong communication skills and a willingness to be a part of a large, multi-functional team; ability to relate well with people and have excellent customer service skills including a welcoming demeanor; must be able to multitask, must be detail oriented and highly organized; must be confidential and a team player.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the date of the written test: graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, including or supplemented by a course in typing. Candidates must indicate the typing course completed and the school/institution attended. It is not necessary to provide transcripts or official documentation at the time of application, but verification may be required at a later date. Failure to provide the above information will result in disqualification.

Notes: 1. Office clerical experience may be substituted for high school graduation on a year-by-year basis provided the candidate has successfully completed a typing course. 2. Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be prorated toward meeting the experience requirements. 3. Under current New York State Law, candidates seeking employment with school districts in New York State will be required to undergo fingerprinting and a criminal history background check prior to appointment. A processing fee may be required.

Additional NOTE: One year of office clerical experience, which includes typing, may be substituted for the required typing course.

Principal Clerk Typist - FT, 12 months - Kenmore East

Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week) — 12 Month Duty Schedule

IF APPOINTED PROVISIONALLY, THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST BE QUALIFIED TO TAKE THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION WHEN MADE AVAILABLE. FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HOLD THE TITLE OF PRINCIPAL CLERK TYPIST OR MUST BE CANVASSED AND REACHABLE FROM THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE LIST.

JOB DUTIES: Secretary to the principal/Main Office lead secretary.  Duties include: customer service, data entry, timely written communication/typing correspondence, creating and managing schedules, employee payroll and other school related documents; office reception and check in, and other projects as assigned by administrators.  This position involves a high level of confidentiality, technical/computer and customer service work. 

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a team player with a pleasant, welcoming demeanor, able to work in a fast-paced environment.  Must be able to multitask and have excellent customer service skills.  Knowledge of Microsoft/Google Suite is required.  Must be able to make quick decisions, be detail-oriented, organized and confidential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (a) Completion of two (2) years of study at a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or business school, supplemented by courses in typing or word processing and two (2) years of office experience including typing or word processing; or (b) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, supplemented by courses in typing and word processing and four (4) years of office experience including typing or world processing; or (c) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).

Note: Verifiable part-time and /or volunteer experience will be prorated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
