Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week) — Core Duty Schedule
For permanent appointment, the successful candidate must hold the civil service title of Account Clerk Typist and be eligible for transfer pursuant to Erie County Civil Service rules OR must be canvassed and reachable from an existing Erie County civil service list. If not already holding the title or on an existing list, the appointment will be provisional pending civil service examination. A provisional appointee must take the examination when offered, and be canvassed and reachable from the civil service list when issued. A noncompetitive pathway to fill this Account Clerk Typist position may be available through the temporary NY HELPS Program. If this option is available, the successful candidate will be advised.
Duties of Assignment: Accounts Payable: Organize invoices received with purchase orders and receiving documents. Review completeness of payment packets prior to payment of claims. Input invoices on financial software to complete payment packets. Communicate with vendors and coworkers to resolve incomplete documentation issues. Prepare payroll deduction checks. Upkeep of files. Sort and organize mail and email received. Assist others in the Business Office to even work flow. Special Projects include Excel spreadsheet preparation, as required. Other clerical work as assigned by a Supervisor.
Special Qualifications: Detail-oriented, must possess excellent computer skills, knowledge of WinCap, Microsoft Office and Google Suite preferred; ability to work as a team member with excellent interpersonal skills and be willing to assist as necessary with department projects; ability to use good judgment, initiative and independence.
Minimum Qualifications:
A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York state registered two (2) year college or university with an Associate's degree in Accounting supplemented by a course in keyboarding or computer business applications; or:
B) Completion of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited or New York state registered two
(2) or four (4) year college or university, which includes sixteen (16) semester credit hours in Accounting, supplemented by a course in keyboarding or computer business applications; or:
C) Graduation from high school supplemented by a course in keyboarding, or computer business applications, and one (1) year of experience maintaining financial records and accounts or:
D) Five (5) years of office experience, one (1) year of which involved keyboarding or computer business applications and the maintenance of financial records and accounts; or:
E) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (D).
