FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HOLD THE CIVIL SERVICE TITLE OF DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES II AND BE ELIGIBLE FOR TRANSFER; OR MUST BE CANVASSED AND REACHABLE FROM THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE LIST. IF APPOINTED PROVISIONALLY THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST BE QUALIFIED TO TAKE THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION WHEN MADE AVAILABLE. A NONCOMPETITIVE PATHWAY TO FILL THIS POSITION MAY BE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE TEMPORARY NY HELPS PROGRAM. IF THIS OPTION IS AVAILABLE, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE ADVISED.
Hours: 7:00am - 3:30 pm (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week)
Annual Salary: $85,000 - $95,000, commensurate with experience
Duties: Support the Director of Facilities and the operations of the Kenmore Town of Tonawanda UFSD. The Assistant Director of Facilities is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the custodial and maintenance activities of a school district’s buildings and grounds department. Although certain activities are performed in the office, on occasion you could be required to perform maintenance, repair, and cleaning related tasks and activities, which may be performed indoors or outdoors under adverse working conditions, and any other responsibilities as directed by the Director of Facilities. Position is typically responsible for the supervision of more than one unit. Supervision is exercised over the work of custodial and maintenance staff and, where applicable, employees of the transportation department or those responsible for building safety and security. The work is performed under general supervision of a school district administrator, which may include the Superintendent. Supervision is exercised over the work of subordinate staff through subordinate supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher-level degree in school facilities management, engineering, engineering technology, or building construction technology and two years of experience in school facilities maintenance, general building construction, building maintenance, or repair work in two or more of the skilled trades,** which included two years of supervisory experience; or
An associate’s degree or higher-level degree in school facilities management, engineering, engineering technology, or building construction technology and four years of experience in school facilities maintenance, general building construction, building maintenance or repair work in two or more of the skilled trades,** which included two years of supervisory experience; or
Six years of experience in school facilities maintenance, general building construction, building maintenance, or repair work in two or more of the skilled trades, which included two years of supervisory experience.
