Position: Elementary Assistant Principal
Thomas Edison Elementary School
Qualifications: Hold a valid New York State School Building Leader or School Administrator/ Supervisor certificate (SBL or SAS). The preferred candidate will have at least 7 years of successful teaching, administrative or education-related professional experience at the Building Level.
Duties and Responsibilities: The position is responsible for assisting the school principal in the leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the school program and operation.
Reports To: Building Principal
Salary: Per KAA Contract: Minimum Starting Salary $73,000 plus up to 20 additional work days compensated at 1/200th of base salary.

Kenmore-Tonawanda Elementary Assistant Principal Job Description General Description: The elementary assistant principal (10-month) supports the principal and assigned personnel; receiving, distributing and communicating information to enforce school, district, and state policies. Up to an additional 20 non-report days at the rate of 1/200th per diem are required. In addition, the assistant principal maintains safety of the school environment; coordinates assigned school site activities; assists students to modify inappropriate behavior and to develop successful interpersonal skills; and communicates information to staff, principal and the public. This position supports the primary function of instructional leadership with the school principal. Qualifications: The successful candidate must have/hold: -
Valid NY State administrative certificate -
7+ years teaching and administrative experience preferred -
Knowledge of school administration principles, current educational trends, and best practices for elementary curriculum and instruction -
Strong communication skills (oral/written) -
Flexible, detail-oriented, able to prioritize and work under pressure -
Leadership experience with specialized programs (eg. RtI, PBIS) -
Ability to collaborate with other departments, including the coordination of transportation services for student safety -
Proficient in effective use of technology for communication and instruction -
Knowledge of tier 1 literacy and math instruction, NYS Standards, trauma-informed practices, and SEL -
Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and foster inclusivity across diverse communities -
Effective team collaboration and multitasking abilities -

Key Responsibilities: -
Support Principal with daily operations and decision-making -
Facilitate communication and resolve conflicts among school personnel, students, and parents -
Lead meetings and committees to achieve school and district goals -
Manage student discipline using restorative approaches and collaborating with families -
Oversee administrative functions including scheduling, personnel, and policy enforcement -
Represent school at district and community meetings -
Provide customer service to all stakeholders -
Supervise and evaluate staff performance -
Manage instructional materials and recommend improvements -
Oversee Special Education services, consultant teachers, and 504 processes -
Integrate instructional technology for curriculum enhancement -
Coordinate academic assessments -
Maintain school safety procedures and support community programs -
Implement and evaluate School Improvement Plan -
