Job Description

Must be NYS certified as Teacher of the Blind & Visually Impaired - new graduates with pending certifications encouraged to apply!

Position is full-time, probationary at Edison Elementary. 

Provide vision services based on students' IEP mandates; Complete re-evaluations and evaluations as needed; Work collaboratively with the education team to ensure the students' needs are being addressed; Complete required documentation, attendance, session logs, annual reviews, and session plans; Design plans and appropriate activities to reach individual student IEPs; Provide assistance to students with regular class assignments; Work cooperatively with regular classroom teachers and staff who have students with disabilities interpreting their abilities, disabilities, and meeting the individual needs of the student; Confer frequently with parents, professional staff members, building level social/emotional, psychological, and behavioral support faculty and staff

Job Qualifications

Knowledge and experience with a brailler and other assistive technology for students with visual impairments
