Job Description

Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week) - Core Duty Schedule

IF APPOINTED PROVISIONALLY THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST BE QUALIFIED TO TAKE THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION WHEN MADE AVAILABLE. FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HOLD THE TITLE OF SENIOR CLERK TYPIST OR MUST BE CANVASSED AND REACHABLE FROM THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE LIST.

JOB DUTIES: The Data Warehouse Reporting & State Testing Support Specialist is a key member of the Office of Data and Accountability in the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District. This position involves technical and analytical work involving complex collection of confidential staff and student-related data and production of reports for mandated state and federal reporting as well as State Assessment operational coordination. Work Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Reports to Director of Data and Accountability; prepares and distributes instructional reports from NYSED Data Warehouse for use by school and district office personnel; Analyzes and corrects errors in data entry for timely submission to the NYS Data Warehouse; Works directly with school and district-based data teams from essential district offices and school offices to reconcile data entry errors on a weekly basis in order to satisfy mandated reporting requirements; Manages critical data flows and timelines; Assists Director on Special Projects; Maintains district developed training materials and documentation for student information system daily usage; Assists in developing new procedures and revising old procedures related to the processing of data processing documents; Assists Director and MCDSS in training new and current employees on SIS operations, and use, Computer Based Testing Software management and operation as it relates to enrollment and scheduling; Assists Director by ensuring that schools are on track with meeting deadlines, included but not limited to grades and reporting, state assessment ordering and weekly and monthly reporting requirements; Tracks each school’s progress during grading/report card periods to assure all schools are on target for production/distribution of grades and progress reports; Processes end-of-year reports as required; Performs other specialized clerical procedures and state reporting tasks, as assigned.

Job Qualifications

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Understanding of school reporting requirements a plus; Experience working with student information management systems, Infinite Campus preferred; Proficient with Google Suite of products; Must possess the ability to convey technical information to non-technical users; Excellent oral and written communication skills; An understanding of and commitment to gaining greater understanding of what is necessary for a Suburban school system to enjoy continuous improvement in an increasingly complex and competitive environment;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, including or supplemented by a course in typing, and one year of office clerical experience. 

Notes:1. One year of office clerical experience, which includes typing, may be substituted for the required typing course; 2. Completion of a one (1) year or longer post-high school secretarial course, which includes typing, may be substituted for the required experience. Additional office clerical experience, which includes typing, may be substituted for the required experience. Additional office clerical experience which includes typing, beyond the one-year requirement, may be substituted for high school on a year-for- year basis; 3. Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be prorated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
