Reports To: Superintendent or Designee
Salary: Minimum Starting Salary $ 110,000 per KAA Contract

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Middle School Principal serves as the instructional and cultural leader of the school, fostering an environment that supports the unique academic, social, and emotional needs of middle-level learners. This role requires a visionary approach to instructional leadership, strategic decision-making, and operational management. The principal ensures a safe, inclusive, and engaging school climate where all students thrive and staff collaborate effectively. Key areas of focus include:

Instructional Leadership – Driving high-quality teaching and learning through data-driven decision-making, curriculum alignment, and professional development.

School Culture & Climate – Creating a positive, student-centered environment that nurtures strong relationships, engagement, and a sense of belonging.

Communication & Collaboration – Establishing transparent, consistent communication with students, families, staff, and the community to support student success.

Operational & Organizational Management – Overseeing daily school functions, safety protocols, scheduling, and resource allocation to maintain a well-run and effective learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid and appropriate New York State administrative certification.

Minimum of ten years of teaching and/or administrative experience, with demonstrated leadership at the middle school level.

Deep understanding of middle school curriculum, adolescent development, and the social-emotional needs of young adolescents.

Knowledge of best practices in instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies to support diverse learners.

Proven ability to foster a positive school culture and implement effective student management and support systems.

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team-building skills within a collaborative professional learning community.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Additional qualifications as designated by the Kenmore-Tonawanda UFSD Board of Education.
