IF APPOINTED PROVISIONALLY, THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT MUST BE QUALIFIED TO TAKE THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION WHEN MADE AVAILABLE. FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HOLD THE TITLE OF CLERK TYPIST OR MUST BE CANVASSED AND REACHABLE FROM THE EXISTING CIVIL SERVICE LIST.  A NON- COMPETITIVE PATHWAY TO FILL THIS CLERK TYPIST POSITION MAY BE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE NY HELPS PROGRAM IN LIEU OF PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT.

Job Duties: Assist in a very busy office setting in a professional and efficient manner when interacting with students, parents and staff. Duties include assisting with attendance and discipline, filing and managing student attendance, transportation issues, field trips, contracts, phone answering /returning voicemails, building calendar and any other duties as assigned by an administrator.

Special Qualifications: Must have computer knowledge (Microsoft Office and Google Suites); proficiency in Infinite Campus or other student management systems a plus; must possess strong communication skills and a willingness to be a part of a large, multi-functional team; ability to relate well with people and have excellent customer service skills including a welcoming demeanor; must be able to multitask, must be detail oriented and highly organized; must be confidential and a team player.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the date of the written test: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma including or supplemented by a course in typing (see Notes 1–3).


Special Note: Under current New York State Law, candidates seeking employment with school districts in New York State will be required to undergo fingerprinting and a criminal history background check prior to appointment. A processing fee may be required. Notes: 1. One year of office clerical experience, which includes typing, may be substituted for the required typing course. 2. Office clerical experience, including typing, may be substituted for the high school requirement on a year-for-year basis. 3. Possession of an Associate’s degree or higher can substitute

$17.20-$26.80 per hour
